Sports clubs in Bushy Park

Teddington Cricket Club – teddington.play-cricket.com
The website of Teddington Cricket Club

Teddington Cricket Club is believed to have been playing cricket since 1827, and took up residency in the park in 1863, when forced to move from its previous home due to the building of the railway, and has occupied the same spot ever since, despite the ground being used as allotments as part of the 'Dig for Victory' campaign during World War II. The current pavilion was erected in 1969, and on joining the Middlesex League in 1970, the club extended its use of the park to allow for the second ground, now used by the 3rd and 4th XIs and juniors.

The late 1980s and 1990s saw the club pick up an array of trophies, including the National Club Championship twice, the Evening Standard Trophy, and the Middlesex League on several occasions, and continued to be one of the best club sides in the country throughout the last decade despite a major trophy eluding their grasp. In 2006 the club was proud to see one of its playing members, Jamie Dalrymple make his debut for England.

While the 1st XI provides an opportunity for a high standard of cricket, in running four XIs on a Saturday and a Club XI on Sundays, the club aims to provide cricket for all abilities and levels of commitment. Its junior section is one of the most successful and largest in the country, taking children from under 6s, and teaching them to enjoy the game as well as its technical side.

The clubhouse provides a friendly place for refreshment during a walk in the park, and anyone is welcome to enjoy the cricket in what has to be one of the best settings for a cricket ground in the country.

The other cricket clubs in the park are:
