The Friends of Bushy & Home Parks is an association constituted in 1990. We value the rural nature of these two neighbouring royal parks and believe that their landscapes should be protected for future generations.

The Information Point at the Pheasantry

At the beginning of December we reorganised the Information Point in the Pheasantry. We have moved the desk into the corner to give more room in the entrance way, but more importantly we are now selling merchandise. Al the profits from the sales go towards the Friends annual appeal. This year it is for money to replace the finials on top of the walls of the Water Gardens. For sale are the following goods:
| 2011 Calendar | £5.00 |
| Greetings card | £1.00 |
| Postcard | £0.50 |
| Key fob | £2.50 |
| Pin badge | £1.00 |
| Water Gardens booklet | £1.00 |
| Diana restoration DVD | £5.00 |
| Friends’ Map | £0.20 |
| Bushy Park: Royals, Rangers and Rogues | £5.00 |
| Bushy Park at War | £2.00 |
Amongst all the new items we have for sale at the Information Point at the Pheasantry and available at all of our walks and talks, is a new booklet on the story of the restoration of the Water Gardens in Bushy Park. “How the Water Gardens were Saved” has been written by former chair of the Friends, Kathy White. It tells the story of the Friends’ work and enthusiasm to get people to notice that the Water Gardens were there in the first place, and then to raise awareness of the need to have them restored. The Friends under Kathy’s chairmanship created The Water Gardens Trust, a group which persuaded many people to take up the challenge of working out how the restoration could be achieved. It is a most interesting story very well told by the person who led the campaign. The booklet was published a few weeks ago and is available at the Pheasantry and all our events for just £1. It really is an excellent read.
We would still welcome more volunteers to help at the Information Point. If you able to give up a couple of hours between 11 and 1.pm or between 1.00 and 3.00 on a weekend or a Bank Holiday. Please contact Rosemary MacColl. Thank you to all our volunteers for your help and support.
